Bipolar disorder is characterized by severe mood and energy shifts that affect people's ability to do daily activities. Fisher talks publicly about her disorder, telling ABC News Primetime she had "outlasted" her problems. "I am mentally ill. I can say that. I am not ashamed of that," she said.
