This 8 week transformational journey will focus on the tenants of heath: Balance of the mind, body and spirit. A program to not only teach the principles of whole foods nutrition, but to develop a strategy for changing behavior and building confidence. These are essential tools for empowering our participants to swim upstream in a society of cheap calories, sedentary living and nervous breakdowns.

The World Health Organization states that 80% of cardiovascular disease and 1/3 of all cancers can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle. A recent study shows that 90% of diabetes cases in older adults are completely preventable. Unfortunately, statistics also show us that only 3% of Americans foster this lifestyle. Currently adult-onset diabetes in children is more common that juvenile-onset and the current generation of children will not outlive previous generations. It is time to make an impact. On yourself, your vitality, your future.

Our current society has based its nutrition on a food industry committed to profit through the use of cheap ingredients to lower cost of production and maximize shelf life. The increased use of processed ingredients like high-fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils has led a sharp rise in obesity in this country since their introduction. Picking up food through a window and microwaving a frozen box has replaced America’s kitchens. Since health comes from within, so must our nutrition. Learn ways to focus on and enjoy the foods that come directly from the ground. Learn to navigate the grocery store, put that kitchen to use and start a garden.

Each week of the 8 week program will walk you closer to a life of optimal nutrition. Dr. Jeffrey Gladd, MD has developed this program modeled on his own personal transformation. Four years, and 50 pounds ago Dr. Gladd spent his day eating heavily processed foods and drinking soda. By committing to long-term changes in a step-wise fashion, he transformed his life, his health and his medical practice. He now brings this journey to your kitchen to enjoy the same health freedom he has embraced: increased energy, rejuvenated taste buds and significant stress reduction.

Part two of your weekly meeting consists of group cognitive-behavioral therapy with Miles Nitz, LMFT. Here you will learn to free yourself from the health suffocating messages you have listened to since birth. Miles left a life of processed foods and smoking several years ago and has not looked back. He learned that taking control of unhealthy behaviors is possible once you understand the messages your brain is sending, and then go about changing the message to guide your desired behavior. Miles brings these simple tools to you week by week so that you will understand why and how to implement not only the nutrition strategies, but any change you want to make.

You will learn sound principles of nutrition and how to personalize it and survive in our society. You will graduate armed with the ability to change your habits for a lifetime, in addition to deeply proven stress management techniques.
