Despite all the benefits of regular activity, many of us have trouble starting or sticking with an exercise program. We pay the price. The National Center for Health Statistics estimates that 12% of all the deaths in the United States each year are due to lack of regular physical activity. That's up to 250,000 deaths that might have been prevented with exercise. More than 60% of us don't get as much exercise as we should.
We all have reasons we don't exercise. Some of us can't find the time. Others simply don't like to sweat. But there are ways to overcome barriers to exercise. You can enjoy your time exercising as well as the benefits it brings.
